Akris is the ancient Greek word for locusts, crickets, praying mantises, and all insects with an exoskeleton. The inspiration for the name, as well as lyrical content, come from reoccurring dreams. Akris's sound is a blend of sludge, metal and noise; the current lineup draws influences from bands like Helmet, Unsane, and the Melvins.
